One China Committee held a Taiwan Plebiscite Forum on December 6. There were five panelists: Yua-hua Wei, Larry Horist, Alexander Hugh, Harry Kiang, and Ni Li. Tze-chung Li and Fuchi Cai presided. Ms. Jing Liu served as an interpreter. Some forty people attended. One China Committee members also appeared on the local China Star Television on US-China relationships and Taiwan's quest for independence. Larry Horist, Tze-chung Li, Alexander Hugh, and Fushi Cai were interviewed by Daway, anchorwoman.

One China Committee had sent a first batch of letters to twenty senators and two representatives. It also sent a letter to Ms. Therese Shiheed disagreeing with her view on disagreement with Taiwan's independence not equal to opposition to Taiwan's independence." and urging her to understand the historical, legal status of Taiwan. In response to our letter, Senator Diana Feinstein of California wrote on December 17:

Thank you for writing to me about the current state of United States foreign policy. I appreciate your letter and welcome the opportunity to respond. Please know that as the United States Senate continues its work in the 108th Congress, I will closely monitor the Bush Administration's foreign policy agenda. The views of my constituents are important to me and I will keep your letter in mind when the Senate debates foreign policy. For your information, I am including a copy of a recent speech I made on U.S. foreign policy.

Once again, thank you for writing. I hope you will continue to keep me Informed on issues of importance to you. If you have any further questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact my Washington, DC office at (202) 224-3841.
